Charles is counsel to a variety of psychedelic religious groups. Presently he is involved with Arizona Yage Assembly, North American Association of Visionary Churches, and Vine of Light Church, in their federal lawsuit opposite the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, and US Customs. At issue is the persistence of these federal agencies in failing to acknowledge and to subordinate to the religious exemptions accorded by the First Amendment, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and other federal law.
